Celebrating Earth Day 2021!

On January 28th, 1969, a well off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, experienced a blowout. The result was over three million gallons of spilled oil across more than 800 square miles. Currently ranked as the 3rd worst oil spill in U.S. history. This led to the deaths of thousands of local wildlife and a destruction of natural habitats. In turn, activists helped lead a coalition to launch the first Earth Day.

Over 50 years later, Earth Day is celebrated by over a billion people in more than 193 countries. Countless organizations and individuals alike come together to promote a variety of initiatives which help to benefit the environment we all share and depend on.

This year, the theme is Restore Our Earth and features five primary programs: The Great Global Cleanup, Climate Literacy, the Global Earth Challenge, Food and Environment, and The Canopy Project.

We encourage everyone to participate in this celebration in any way they can! Whether it is through volunteer work, committing to more sustainable shopping habits, or engaging in local conservation efforts like composting. There are so many ways that you can give back to the Earth that we all call home.

To celebrate Earth Day this year, we want to empower individuals to start composting by giving away 20 of our compost bins.
